What happens?
When opening a design, the message An error occurred while opening the file is displayed. The file may be corrupted or blocked. If the design was received via e-mail or through downloads, make sure that it is not blocked consulting its properties.
Why does it happen?
The situation can occur for the following reasons:
1. The design is corrupted;
2. The user logged into Windows does not have full permission to the directory where the design is saved, that is, the directory or folder where the designs are saved has a read-only attribute, or does not have access permissions to it.
What to do?
1. Check the situation:
Occurs with only one design
Solution 1: design saved on network
1. Check the directory where the design is saved;
2. If the design is saved on a network, copy it to the computer's desktop and open the file;
3. If the design opens correctly, ask the IT technician or person in charge to verify the user's access permissions to the network directory.
Solution 2: design saved in local folder
1. Check the directory where the design is saved;
2. Locate the design and its .bak file;
3. Open a request to Promob Support and attach the files for them to be analyzed.
Solution 3: design opens from the File - Open menu or on another computer
1. Open the design via the File - Open menu or on another computer;
2. Save the design to your computer's desktop;
3. Open the design with double mouse click;
4. If the situation persists associate the design files with OpenPromob.
Occurs with all designs
Solution 1: network saved designs
1. Check the directory where the designs are saved;
2. Copy one of the designs to your computer's desktop and open the file;
3. If the design opens correctly, ask the IT technician or person in charge to check the user's access permissions to the network directory;
4. If the design does not open, open a request to Promob Support and attach some designs for them to be analyzed.
Solution 2: designs saved in local folder
1. Open one of the designs through the File - Open menu or on another computer;
2. If the designs open normally via the File - Open menu or on another computer, link the design files to OpenPromob;
3. If the designs do not open, open a request to Promob Support and attach some designs for them to be analyzed.
Solution 3: occurred after computer maintenance/formatting
Before maintenance/formatting, the designs were backed up
1. Open a request to Promob Support and attach some designs (with .bak files) for them to be analyzed.
No backup performed - Designs have been restored
1. This type of process can cause designs to be corrupted (loss of information) and it is not possible to recover them. It is important that the backup be performed before formatting or maintaining the computer.
