Necessary Procedures
Layers
Currently, the Promob layers available for import are Walls, Floor, Ceiling, Geometries and Decoration Items.
To perform the import, it is necessary to map the layers (tags) from the SketchUp file to the layers in Promob, as described in the step of this article. Learn more here.
- Create Layers
To create layers (tags) in SketchUp, follow the steps below:
1. Click the Add Tag button and give a name to the layer.
- Assign SketchUp Entities
To assign the desired SketchUp entities to the created layer, follow the steps below:
1. Select the entities in SketchUp.
2. With the entities selected, in the right-hand toolbar, select the desired tag.
- Layer Restrictions
Walls
To import the Walls, the SketchUp file must follow these rules:
-
The entities must be rectangular and well-defined, without any extra or missing lines.
-
The entities must have the top faces leveled horizontally.
Floor
To import the Floor, the SketchUp file must follow these rules:
-
The floor layer must contain only one complete object.
-
The floor layer cannot have steps or height variations.
Decoration Items
In order to import Decoration Items, SketchUp objects must comply with the following rules:
- The objects cannot have loose faces.
- The objects must be Components or Groups.
Optional Procedures
In order to increase the chance of successful project conversion, it is recommended to follow the steps below:
Take the entities to the origin:
1. Select all project entities.
2. Select the move tool.
3. Select a point to be the origin, the leftmost and bottom point is recommended.
4. With the point selected, type [0,0,0] with the square brackets and press Enter.
5. Entities are at the origin if guidelines are appearing.
Avoid Nested Groups/Components in Wall Layers
To ensure that wall layers are correctly converted, avoid using nested groups or components (that is, within other groups/components).
To remove the nesting:
1. Select the entities of the layer and check if they are part of a group or component.
2. Right-click on the entities and select Explode.
3. Repeat this process until only one level of group/component remains, or until the entities are completely ungrouped.
Examples of successfully imported projects
Here we list some examples of design that were imported into Promob.
- Design 01
- Design 02
Examples of unsuitable projects for importation
Here are some examples of SketchUp entities not recommended for importation into Promob:
1. Triangular walls cannot be converted.
2. Additional lines on the sides of the walls.
3. Non-rectangular and irregular shapes.
4. Very complex shapes that the Promob walls cannot support.
5. Floor with more than one object.
6. Floor with steps.
